BurJuman Metro Station Overview
BurJuman is an interchange between the Dubai Metro Red and Green lines, station R19 on the Red Line and G26 on the Green Line. It sits in Zone 6 in Bur Dubai, directly below BurJuman Mall. To switch between the two lines you stay inside the same station and follow the coloured signs. You do not tap out at the gates, and you do not pay a second fare.
BurJuman is one of only two stations where the Red and Green lines meet, the other being Union, and it is the second busiest station on the network. It opened in 2009 as Khalid Bin Al Waleed and was renamed BurJuman in 2012, after the mall above it. The station is underground, with the Green Line platforms on the lower level and the Red Line platforms above.

BurJuman Station opening hours and facilities
BurJuman station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
BurJuman has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
The co-working space is genuinely useful if you arrive early for a meeting in the area. WO-RK sits at Exit 2, next to the Carrefour. A day pass is about AED 35, it holds up to 100 people, and it opens 8am to 9pm on weekdays, with coffee and water included. You get a desk and Wi-Fi without leaving the station.
How to change between the Red and Green lines
Changing lines at BurJuman is step-free and signposted in Arabic and English. The platforms are colour-coded, so you follow the red signs for the Red Line and the green signs for the Green Line. Both lines sit inside the same paid area, so the change is quick and needs no second Nol tap:
- Step off your train and look for the coloured line signs, not the exit signs
- Follow the colour of the line you want, red on the upper level or green on the lower level
- Check the platform direction board for the correct terminus before you board
The Red Line runs to Centrepoint in one direction and to Expo 2020 in the other, with a change at Jebel Ali for the UAE Exchange branch. The Green Line runs to Etisalat by e& and to Creek. Your fare depends on the zones your whole trip crosses, not on the line change, so a Red to Green trip is charged once on a single tap.
BurJuman is also the first Metro station with a co-working space inside it. The RTA opened WO-RK at the station in 2024 as a pilot.
Getting to BurJuman Mall, Al Seef and old Dubai
BurJuman station sits directly under BurJuman Mall, with covered access from inside the station, so you reach the shops without stepping outside. The mall has department stores, a cinema and dining across several floors. The station's look fits its old-Dubai setting: it uses blue lighting and a design theme drawn from the city's pearling heritage.
BurJuman is the easiest Metro stop for this older side of Bur Dubai. The Creek and the historic quarter sit a short walk or one or two stops away on the Green Line:
- Sharaf DG (G25): one stop on the Green Line, near the Al Fahidi historic district and Dubai Museum
- Al Ghubaiba (G24): two stops on the Green Line, for the abra station and the AED 1 Creek crossing to Deira
- Al Seef: the restored creekside district is about 800 metres from the station on foot
- Karama: the budget-shopping area sits just east of the station
Heading for old Dubai? Do not get off here for the abra. Stay on the Green Line one more stop to Al Ghubaiba, where the wooden abra across the Creek costs AED 1 and beats the road traffic. For the textile souk and Meena Bazaar, BurJuman and Sharaf DG both work, and both keep you out of the heat until the last few minutes.
Fares from BurJuman Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
