Ibn Battuta Station opening hours and facilities

Ibn Battuta station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:

• Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
• Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
• Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
• Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Ibn Battuta has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.

Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.

The mall and its six themed courts

The station takes its name from Ibn Battuta Mall, about 150 metres from the platforms on a covered footbridge. The mall is laid out as six themed courts, each based on a region from the 14th-century explorer’s travels: China, India, Persia, Egypt, Tunisia and Andalusia.

The layout runs in a single long line, with the courts opening one into the next, so you walk through them rather than around them. Each court has its own style: pagodas and a junk ship in China Court, a giant elephant clock in India Court, a planetarium in Andalusia Court. For most travellers the mall is a destination in its own right, and a calmer alternative to the bigger malls further north on the line.

Heading to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain from Ibn Battuta

Ibn Battuta sits next to one of Dubai’s main intercity bus stations, with regular services to Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The bus station is a short walk from the Metro exit, on the same side as the mall. The fastest services to Abu Dhabi take around two hours and most accept your Nol card.

For travellers heading to Yas Island, Saadiyat or the Corniche, this is the closest combined Metro and intercity bus stop on the network. For the city centre the bus also stops at Ibn Battuta on its way out, so you can catch it without changing at a bus station closer to Downtown. Getting to the malls and the city

Ibn Battuta sits at the right end of the Red Line for the other big mall stops. Mall of the Emirates is seven stops north on the same shuttle plus a change at National Paints, for AED 3 on a Silver Nol card. Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall is eleven stops with the same change, for AED 5.

For Expo City Dubai, change at National Paints onto the Route 2020 branch heading south; it is seven stops from Ibn Battuta for AED 7.50. The Marina and JBR are on the city-bound side via the Dubai Tram at DMCC or Sobha Realty.

Fares from Ibn Battuta Station

Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.

Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
