Dubai Healthcare City Metro Station Overview
Dubai Healthcare City is a Green Line station in Zone 6, in the Umm Hurair district. It is station G28, between Oud Metha on the north side and Al Jadaf on the south side.
The station serves the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) free zone, the specialist healthcare cluster of over 4,000 licensed clinics and hospitals opened by Sheikh Mohammed in 2002. It is also the closer of the two Green Line stops to AYA Universe at Wafi City Mall, the immersive digital art experience opened in 2023.

Dubai Healthcare City Station opening hours and facilities
Dubai Healthcare City station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Dubai Healthcare City has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
For a DHCC clinic appointment, use the covered pedestrian walkway from the station exit. The walkway is air-conditioned and step-free, and most of the specialist clinic buildings are signposted from the DHCC central plaza. Allow ten to fifteen minutes from the platform to the front door, longer during rush hour.
The healthcare free zone
Dubai Healthcare City was inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed on 15 January 2002 as the region’s first free zone dedicated to healthcare. The concept combined specialist clinics, hospitals and medical support businesses into a single walkable cluster with unified licensing and English-medium regulation. Twenty-plus years on the free zone has over 4,000 licensed clinics and hospitals, several international brand partnerships, and specialist teaching hospitals for the University of Dubai and Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine.
The cluster is walkable from the station, though the buildings spread over a large plot and the walk to some of the outlying clinics takes ten to fifteen minutes from the platform. A covered pedestrian walkway from the station exit connects to the DHCC central plaza, which is the reference point for the clinic buildings. The RTA feeder buses from the station bay serve the outer clinics that the walkway does not reach.
AYA Universe at Wafi City
AYA Universe, at Wafi City Mall, is a 12-zone immersive digital art experience covering 40,000 square feet on the mall ground floor. It opened in October 2023 and has become one of the mall’s main draws. The walk from this station is about five to seven minutes on the covered walkway. Peak weekend evenings sell out; pre-booking is sensible for any Friday or Saturday evening visit.
Wafi City Mall itself has been at the Umm Hurair side of central Dubai since the 1990s, with an Egyptian-themed exterior that dates from the original construction and has been kept through the mall’s several refits. The mall’s restaurants stay open late, so an AYA visit plus dinner is a comfortable evening pattern.
The Umm Hurair district
Umm Hurair, the residential district around the station, is one of the older mid-city neighbourhoods, laid out in the 1970s alongside Oud Metha. The pace here is slower than in the tourist-facing districts to the south of the Creek. Older apartment buildings, small local restaurants, tailoring shops and the schools and clinics that support the district’s mostly South Asian and Filipino residential population line the streets. The Dubai Healthcare City free zone sits at the western edge, and the Wafi and Umm Hurair Park cluster fills out the middle.
AYA Universe at Wafi City Mall is a five to seven minute walk from this station, and about the same distance from Oud Metha station one stop north. Either works; Dubai Healthcare City has the slightly shorter walk and a covered route, Oud Metha has the more relaxed neighbourhood approach. Choose by which side of the mall you want to arrive at.
Fares from Dubai Healthcare City Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
