Oud Metha Station opening hours and facilities

Oud Metha station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:

• Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
• Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
• Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
• Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Oud Metha has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.

Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.

An older residential district south of the Creek

Oud Metha was one of the first residential districts built south of the Creek in the 1970s, a mix of low-rise apartment blocks and villas laid out on a grid before the Sheikh Zayed Road towers went up. The neighbourhood has kept much of its 1970s character, with older apartment buildings, family businesses that have been on the same corner for decades, and the schools and clinics that support the district’s mostly South Asian residential population. Gulf News has profiled the area as one of the few central districts where the original grain of the 1970s city is still visible.

Rashid Hospital and the DHA cluster

Rashid Hospital, a short walk south of the station, is one of Dubai’s oldest government hospitals and the busiest emergency department in the city. It opened in 1973 and has been the main Dubai Health Authority tertiary centre ever since. The wider Dubai Healthcare City free zone begins at the next station south, with specialist clinics along the road between the two stations. Oud Metha is the closer stop for Rashid Hospital, while Dubai Healthcare City station serves the DHCC clinic cluster.

Wafi City and AYA Universe

Wafi City Mall, on the south side of the station, has become the destination anchor for evening riders since AYA Universe opened. The 12-zone immersive digital art experience covers around 40,000 square feet on the mall’s ground floor and runs a permanent programme of themed installations. Peak weekend evenings sell out early. The walk from the station is covered and takes five to seven minutes.

Wafi City Mall itself is one of the older malls in the district, with an Egyptian-themed exterior that has been in place since the mall opened in the 1990s. The mall’s own restaurants stay open late, so an evening AYA Universe visit plus dinner is one of the most-used weekend patterns from this station.

Fares from Oud Metha Station

Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.

Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
