The Dubai Tram is a street-level light rail line that runs along the coast through Dubai Marina, Jumeirah Beach Residence and Al Sufouh. It has 11 stops from Jumeirah Beach Residence 1 to Al Sufouh, and it opened on 12 November 2014. It uses the same Nol card as the Metro and connects to the Red Line at two stops on foot.

Overview
The tram is the local line for the Marina and the beachfront. It runs at street level in a loop through Dubai Marina, JBR and out along Al Sufouh Road, linking the residential towers, the beach and the Media City offices. It is slower than the Metro because it shares the road and stops often, but it covers an area the Metro only skirts. Most people use it to reach the Marina from the Red Line, or to hop between the beach, the malls and the Palm Monorail without a taxi.
Main stops on the Tram and what is at each
Jumeirah Beach Residence 1 and 2 (T1 and T2) serve The Beach at JBR and the towers. Jumeirah Lakes Towers (T3) is the walking interchange to the Red Line at DMCC. Dubai Marina Mall (T4) sits by the mall, and Dubai Marina (T5) is the second walking interchange to the Red Line, at Sobha Realty. Marina Towers (T6) and Mina Seyahi (T7) reach the central Marina and the beach resorts. Media City (T8) serves the offices at Dubai Media City. Palm Jumeirah (T9) connects to the Palm Monorail for the Palm and Atlantis. Knowledge Village (T10) and Al Sufouh (T11) are the western end of the line.

Fares and zones on the Tram
The tram takes the same Nol card as the Metro and buses, and there is no cash on board. The tram is a flat fare and all 11 stops sit in Zone 2, so a tram-only trip is charged as a single zone: AED 3 on a Silver Nol card, per the RTA Nol fares page. When you combine the tram with the Metro, the tram's Zone 2 counts towards the zones your whole trip crosses, so a tram and Metro journey is charged by the total zones, not as two separate fares. Gold Class on the tram costs more for the premium cabin, and a personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver.
Tram timings detail
The tram runs from about 06:00 to 01:00 from Monday to Saturday, and from about 09:00 on Sunday. Trams come every few minutes at peak times and less often late at night. The first and last tram times at each stop are not yet confirmed from the official timetable, so treat the hours above as a guide and check before a late trip. The tram and the Metro do not share a paid area. At Jumeirah Lakes Towers and Dubai Marina you tap out of one, walk across a footbridge, and tap into the other, so allow five to ten minutes for the change. The walk at Dubai Marina to Sobha Realty is the longer of the two.
Future plans and extensions
A second phase has been discussed to extend the tram by about 4 km towards Mall of the Emirates, which would give a direct tram link to the Red Line there. The tram also forms part of the wider rail network that the Blue Line project will grow from about 101 km to 131 km by 2029, per Gulf News. No new tram stops have opened recently, so the 11-stop line is the current network.
Tips for riders
Use the tram for short coastal hops, not long trips, since it is slower than the Metro. To reach the Marina from the Red Line, change at DMCC or Sobha Realty and allow time for the walk and the tap out and in. For the Palm, ride to Palm Jumeirah (T9) and switch to the monorail. Keep enough on your Nol card before you board, because there is no way to pay with cash on the tram.
