Al Jadaf Metro Station Overview
Al Jadaf is a Green Line station in Zone 6, on the east bank of Dubai Creek. It is station G29, between Dubai Healthcare City on the north side and the Creek southern terminus on the south side.
The station serves the Al Jaddaf residential and cultural district, named for the historic dhow-building yards that ran along the Creek here for generations. The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, the largest public library in the Arab world, is about 200 metres from the station exit. Both spellings, Al Jadaf and Al Jaddaf, are in current use.

Al Jadaf Station opening hours and facilities
Al Jadaf station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Al Jadaf has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
The elevated concourse has pedestrian bridges with open views over the Dubai Creek, and the sunset view west across the water is one of the best on the network. A late afternoon arrival and a slow walk to the Library end catches the light through the towers.
The Library that anchors the district
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, a short walk from the station, opened on 16 June 2022 as the largest public library in the Arab world, inaugurated by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid. The building’s design is modelled on a traditional wooden book rehl, or lectern, and stands over seven storeys with more than 1.1 million books, nine specialist libraries, and an Emirati history archive. Entry is free with photo ID at the security desk, and the upper-floor reading rooms have west-facing views over the Creek. The library runs a permanent programme of talks and exhibitions, and the ground-floor cafe is open to non-readers.
Dhow-building yards along the Creek
The Al Jaddaf name means “the rower” in Arabic, and the district has carried the dhow-building trade along the Creek for generations. The yards, on the south side of the district and reached on foot from the station, still build and repair the traditional wooden trading dhows that run cargo across the Gulf. Khaleej Times has documented the yards as one of the last working craft industries in central Dubai. Weekday mornings are the active time; visitors are welcome to walk along the yard fronts as long as you keep clear of the working areas.
The Creek walk and the sunset
The station’s elevated concourse doubles as a viewpoint over the Creek. Bridges at both ends of the concourse have open west-facing sightlines to Downtown, with the Burj Khalifa in the distance and the Al Jaddaf marine station in the foreground. Sunset is the picture; a late-afternoon arrival, a walk to the south end and a slow return catches the last light through the towers. The walkway is fully step-free and open at all hours.
For Mohammed Bin Rashid Library, follow the signposted walkway from the station exit; the walk takes about three to four minutes. The Library is free to enter, open daily 9 AM to 9 PM, and the upper-floor reading rooms have Creek views. Bring photo ID for the visitor pass at the security desk.
Fares from Al Jadaf Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
