Al Qiyadah Metro Station Overview
Al Qiyadah is a Green Line station in Zone 5, on Al Ittihad Road, the northern arterial through the older residential districts. It is station G16, between Stadium on the north side and Abu Hail on the south side.
The name "Al Qiyadah" means "the command" in Arabic, after the Dubai Police General Headquarters directly across Al Ittihad Road from the station. The area around the station is mainly residential and civic, with government offices, older apartment blocks and neighbourhood shops along the road.

Al Qiyadah Station opening hours and facilities
Al Qiyadah station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Al Qiyadah has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
The busiest weekday morning at Al Qiyadah is the police shift changeover at about 7 AM. Trains southbound to Union fill up but move quickly, so a five to ten minute wait is normal. Off-peak weekday mornings after 10 AM are quiet and the platform is often empty.
A station named for its neighbour
Al Qiyadah opened with the Green Line on 9 September 2011 and has carried the same name since. The name means “the command” in Arabic, referring to the Dubai Police General Headquarters directly across Al Ittihad Road from the station. The Police HQ has been on this site since Dubai Police was established as a modern force in 1956, and today the compound houses the Police Commander-in-Chief’s office, the traffic department, and the public services centre where residents pick up police clearance certificates and settle traffic fines.
Al Ittihad Road, the north arterial
The station sits on Al Ittihad Road, one of the original arterial roads through Deira, running from the Sharjah border down to the Trade Centre area. The road passes through some of Dubai’s oldest continuously-inhabited districts, including Al Twar, Al Nahda and Al Qusais, which developed in the 1970s as residential suburbs for the Deira commercial centre. The neighbourhood has kept a working-city feel: apartment blocks, tailoring shops, small groceries, and cafes serving karak chai around the clock. It is far less tourist-oriented than the Sheikh Zayed Road corridor south of Union.
The commute pattern
Most weekday riders at Al Qiyadah are police, government and residential commuters into Union or on to the Red Line at BurJuman. The southbound platform fills up sharply at about 7 AM when the police shift changes, then thins out for the rest of the morning. In the evening the northbound direction picks up between 5 PM and 7 PM as offices in Deira close. On weekends the station is one of the quieter ones on the Green Line, since it does not sit next to any tourist anchor or major mall.
For anything at the Police HQ, use the north-side exit and follow the pedestrian crossing across Al Ittihad Road. The Police public services counter, for visitor passes, traffic fine enquiries and police clearance certificates, is on the ground floor of the main building, signposted from the pedestrian gate.
Fares from Al Qiyadah Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
