Life Pharmacy Station opening hours and facilities

Life Pharmacy station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:

• Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
• Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
• Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
• Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Life Pharmacy has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.

Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.

Three names in fifteen years

Life Pharmacy has cycled through three names since the Red Line opened in 2011. The station was inaugurated as Jebel Ali, taking its name from the surrounding industrial area at the south-western end of the line. Four years later, on 30 June 2015, RTA signed a naming-rights agreement with the remittance firm UAE Exchange, making the station the sixteenth on the network to carry a sponsor’s brand, reported by Gulf News at the time.

A decade later the sponsor changed again. On 5 May 2025 RTA announced a fresh ten-year naming-rights agreement with the Life Pharmacy Group, confirmed in a statement from the UAE Media Office. It was the third Metro renaming in as many months, following Al Khail on 18 March and GGICO on 11 April, as tracked by Gulf News. The RTA has described the wider naming-rights programme, first launched in 2009, as the first initiative of its kind globally.

The Metro’s only ground-level station

Life Pharmacy is the only station on the entire Dubai Metro network built at ground level. Every other Red and Green Line station is either elevated on a concrete viaduct or built underground; only this one sits directly on the ground plane, as noted by Gulf News. The reason is the terrain: the flat, low-density industrial land at the south-western end of the Red Line made a viaduct or tunnel unnecessary, so the platforms sit at the same level as the tracks and the surrounding roads.

For arriving passengers the result is a much shorter walk than at a typical Metro station. Rather than climbing an escalator up to a mezzanine and out to street level, you step off the train, cross the concourse, and exit at ground level to the surface car park and feeder-bus bay. The trade-off is that Life Pharmacy has less of the sheltered, air-conditioned “walkway from platform to attraction” feel of the underground Downtown stations or the elevated Marina cluster.

The Red Line forks at National Paints, three stops up the line, and Life Pharmacy sits at the end of the shorter of the two branches. Route 2020 branch trains, which run from the trunk out to Expo 2020, do not stop at Life Pharmacy at all, they take the other track. This has practical consequences for anyone planning a trip from here.

Northbound trips into the city work as a single through service. Since 15 April 2024 RTA has run a direct Track 2 train between Life Pharmacy and Centrepoint, calling at Danube, Energy, Ibn Battuta, then joining the main line at National Paints and continuing to the airport, Downtown and Union without a change of train. Board a Centrepoint-bound service at Life Pharmacy and stay on until your stop; the earlier shuttle-plus-transfer pattern that used to end at National Paints was retired at that date.

Southbound arrivals from the trunk work in reverse: from Centrepoint or any Red Line trunk station, look for a Life Pharmacy service and stay on it. A common mistake is to board an Expo 2020 train and end up at the wrong terminus. The two branches share the platforms as far as National Paints, then diverge; from that point onward the destination on the front of the train is what matters.

Fares from Life Pharmacy Station

Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.

Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
