Salah Al Din Metro Station Overview
Salah Al Din is a Green Line station in Zone 5, in central Deira. It is station G19, one stop north of the Union Red and Green Line interchange and one stop south of Abu Baker Al Siddique.
The station sits on Salah Al Din Road, one of Deira's central commercial arteries, running from the Sharjah side down through Deira to Union. The area around the station is dense with mid-rise commercial buildings, hotels, currency exchanges, and the ministries and government offices that cluster in this part of Deira.

Salah Al Din Station opening hours and facilities
Salah Al Din station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Salah Al Din has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
Salah Al Din Road has one of the city's older concentrations of jewellery and electronics shops, running for several blocks either side of the station. Prices are generally negotiable and lower than in mall shops; most stalls take card and cash. The busiest evening is Thursday, when the after-work crowd shops before the weekend.
Salah Al Din Road, the Deira commercial spine
Salah Al Din Road is one of the older central arteries of Deira, running north-south through the middle of the district. It has been a commercial spine since the 1970s, with jewellery and electronics wholesalers as the anchor trades. Khaleej Times has profiled the street as one of the districts where the older trading patterns of pre-oil-boom Dubai are still visible, with several second- and third-generation family shops operating from the same locations.
The Metro station opened with the Green Line on 9 September 2011 and has not been renamed. The station serves both the commercial strip along the road and the older residential streets that spread east and west.
The Deira ministries cluster
North of the station, along the upper reaches of Salah Al Din Road, is the Deira ministries cluster: government offices for the federal ministries with a Dubai base, plus several Emirate-level departments. The cluster does not have the modern-tower feel of the Trade Centre or DIFC districts; the buildings here are older, mid-rise, and workmanlike. Salah Al Din Road is the main access, with feeder buses running from the station to the ministry gates during working hours.
The short walk to Union
The most-used commute pattern from Salah Al Din is the short hop south to Union, the busiest interchange on the network. From here, one stop south lands you at Union with a cross-platform change to the Red Line, no second tap. The walk along Salah Al Din Road covers the same distance in about ten minutes and passes several older hotels and dining spots; on a busy afternoon the walk can be faster than the train given how tightly the two stations are spaced. For any Red Line destination (Downtown, the airport, Mall of the Emirates, Expo City), the Union interchange is the shortest route.
The walk south from the station to Union takes about ten minutes along Salah Al Din Road. It runs parallel to the Green Line and passes several older hotels and dining spots. On a busy afternoon the walk is faster than waiting for the next train given the short distance and dense pavement crowds around Union.
Fares from Salah Al Din Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
