Equiti Metro Station Overview

Equiti is a Red Line station in Zone 2, on Sheikh Zayed Road. It is station R31, between ONPASSIVE on the east side and Mall of the Emirates on the west side.

The station serves the Gold and Diamond Park, an integrated jewellery manufacturing and retail complex on the SZR frontage, with around 90 retailers and over 110 manufacturers under one roof. It also gives access to the Al Quoz industrial and warehouse district behind, which has grown a quieter creative and gallery cluster of its own in the past decade.

Equiti Station opening hours and facilities

Equiti station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:

  • Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
  • Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
  • Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
  • Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM

Equiti has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.

Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.

From a Dubai resident

For the Gold and Diamond Park, use the SZR-side exit and follow the signposted walk to the complex entrance. The walk takes about five minutes. Prices on display gold and diamond jewellery are negotiable, and the in-house manufacturers can do custom design and resizing on a turnaround of one to three days. Quieter weekday mornings are the comfortable shopping window.

A station that has carried four names

Equiti opened with the Red Line on 9 September 2009 as First Gulf Bank, named after the original Abu Dhabi-based sponsor. When First Gulf Bank merged with the National Bank of Abu Dhabi to form First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) in 2017, the station was renamed FAB. After a brief Umm Al Sheif period, the Equiti name took over in 2022 under a new sponsor agreement. Through all four names, the station code has stayed R31, and the route announcements have run a few months behind the signage on each change. Travellers who arrive expecting one of the older names are at the right place.

The Gold and Diamond Park

The Gold and Diamond Park, on the Sheikh Zayed Road frontage about five minutes’ walk from the station, is the city’s modern alternative to the open-air Deira Gold Souk. The complex opened in 2001 as a purpose-built one-stop jewellery hub, with around 90 retail showrooms and over 110 in-house manufacturers under a single air-conditioned roof. The price grade is comparable to the Gold Souk, but the complex is calmer to browse, easier to do detailed comparison shopping in, and the on-site manufacturers can take custom design and resizing work with a one to three day turnaround. Most retailers accept card payments alongside cash; in the Gold Souk, cash is still the more common transaction.

Al Quoz behind the station

Behind the Gold and Diamond Park, the Al Quoz industrial and warehouse district has grown a quieter creative and gallery cluster over the past decade. Alserkal Avenue, the warehouse art and design complex south of the SZR, is reached more easily from the next station east (ONPASSIVE / R29) than from Equiti, but the cluster as a whole spreads through the area. The walk from Equiti station to the warehouse cluster is too long in summer; an off-peak taxi from the station rank is about AED 12 to 18 and takes five to seven minutes.

From a Dubai resident

Equiti is among the network's most-renamed stations, after First Gulf Bank, then FAB, then Umm Al Sheif, before settling on Equiti in 2022. Older signs, printed maps and route announcements may still use any of the previous names. The station code (R31) is the most reliable reference if a map is out of date.

Fares from Equiti Station

Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.

Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
