Financial Centre Metro Station Overview
Financial Centre is a Red Line station in Zone 6, on the city centre stretch of Sheikh Zayed Road. It is station R24, between Emirates Towers on the north side and Burj Khalifa / Dubai Mall on the south side.
DIFC sits on the north side of Sheikh Zayed Road opposite the station, and both Financial Centre and Emirates Towers serve it. Financial Centre is the closer stop for Gate Avenue and the Gate Village dining lanes on the south side of the district. For The Gate Building itself, for ICD Brookfield Place and for the northern towers, Emirates Towers one stop north is the shorter walk. The choice comes down to which part of DIFC you are heading to.

Financial Centre Station opening hours and facilities
Financial Centre station keeps the standard RTA opening hours, the same right across the network:
- Monday to Thursday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Friday: 5:00 AM to 1:00 AM
- Saturday: 5:00 AM to 12:00 AM
- Sunday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 AM
Financial Centre has the standard Dubai Metro facilities, confirmed in the official RTA passenger guide. The station is step-free, with lifts to all levels, tactile guidance paths, and dedicated wheelchair spaces on every train. Nol card machines and a ticket counter sit inside the concourse, alongside bilingual signage and information screens. Du Wi-Fi covers the network.
Every regular train carries three cabin types: Gold Class at one end, a Women and Children cabin with pink signage, and Standard cabins. Door pictograms on the platform show where each cabin stops. The station has at least one bus connection, dedicated Metro Police, CCTV throughout, and emergency call points on every platform and train.
For Gate Avenue and the Gate Village restaurants, exit on the DIFC side, cross the Sheikh Zayed Road pedestrian footbridge and follow Al Sukook Street north into the cluster. The walk takes about eight minutes on Google Maps and ends at the south entrance to Gate Avenue, with the dining lanes spreading north-west from there.
Which parts of DIFC does Financial Centre reach?
DIFC runs north to south between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Sa’ada Street, and Financial Centre sits on the south side. That geography decides what is a short walk and what is not. Gate Avenue’s south entrance is 600 metres from the station, about eight minutes on Google Maps, and the Gate Village dining lanes are a further two or three minutes on from there.
The Gate Building itself, the arch that gives the district its silhouette, sits at the north end of the cluster. The walk from Financial Centre to The Gate is 1.4 kilometres and around nineteen minutes because you cross Sheikh Zayed Road first and then walk the length of the district. ICD Brookfield Place, the newer glass tower on the north-east side, is 1.2 kilometres and about fifteen minutes. Both are closer from Emirates Towers.
Financial Centre or Emirates Towers for DIFC?
Both stations sit on the Red Line one stop apart, with DIFC between them. The shorter walk depends on the destination, not the station name.

The rule of thumb: use Financial Centre for the south-side dining and gallery cluster, use Emirates Towers for the Gate Building arch, the north-side towers and the Ritz-Carlton DIFC side. Both are one AED 3 Silver Nol fare from each other on a Zone 6 hop, so if you get off at the wrong one, correcting is not expensive.
Financial Centre Metro to DIFC, Gate Avenue and Gate Village
DIFC, the Dubai International Financial Centre, was established by federal decree in 2004 as the financial free zone for the UAE, with its own commercial law and an English-language court. The anchor is The Gate, the arch-shaped building at the north end of the cluster, opened in 2004 to a Gensler design. Gate Avenue, the climate-controlled retail and dining street, runs south from underneath The Gate through the district and out into Gate Village. Financial Centre Metro Station opened with the Red Line in September 2009 and, together with Emirates Towers one stop north, gave DIFC its Metro access.
The Gate Village dining lanes, on the west side of the district, carry a rotating set of high-end restaurants and cafes with a permanent set of commercial galleries clustered on Gate Village 8 and 9. Free public exhibitions run most weekdays with extended weekend hours during the annual Art Dubai gallery weekend each March, which is walking distance from either Metro stop.
If your target is The Gate Building itself, ICD Brookfield Place or the north-side towers, ride one more stop to Emirates Towers instead. From Financial Centre the walk to The Gate is around nineteen minutes because the arch sits at the north end of the district; from Emirates Towers it is about eight minutes.
Fares from Financial Centre Station
Fares depend on how many zones your trip crosses, not how many stations you pass. A Silver Nol card costs AED 3 within one zone, AED 5 across two zones, and AED 7.50 for three or more zones, per the RTA Nol fares page. A personal Blue Nol card pays the same as Silver. Gold Class costs double: AED 6, 10 or 15 across the same bands.
Without a Nol card, the Red ticket is a separate, higher tariff of AED 4, 6 or 8.50 by zone band, and the blank ticket costs AED 2 to buy. Children aged five and under travel free, and travel is free for People of Determination.
