Metro or taxi?

For one or two people, the Metro wins on cost and predictability. For a family with luggage, or in a hurry, a taxi is door to door and skips the walk.

OptionCostTimeBest for
MetroAED 7.5 (Silver Nol)~30 minCheapest, no traffic
TaxiAED 51 to 7522 to 32 minDoor to door, luggage, families
Taxi figures are an estimate, based on the RTA street-hail meter (about AED 5 to start, around AED 2 per kilometre, AED 12 minimum) as reported by Gulf News. The final fare moves with traffic, the time of day, app pricing and any Salik tolls.
From a Dubai resident

Only board a train marked Expo 2020 on the platform display, not one marked Life Pharmacy. The Red Line forks at National Paints (R38), and the Life Pharmacy shuttle terminates there without continuing to DIP. Boarding at the front of the Expo 2020 train at Equiti puts you closest to the DIP exit on arrival.

After you arrive at Dubai Investment Park

Dubai Investment Park station sits at the top of the DIP free zone, one stop before Expo City Dubai on the Route 2020 branch.

About this route

Do I need to change trains between Equiti and Dubai Investment Park?

No, if you board the right train. Through trains from Centrepoint marked Expo 2020 run the full Route 2020 branch and stop at Dubai Investment Park. Trains marked Life Pharmacy do not continue past National Paints. One train, twelve stops, no platform change.

How much is the fare from Equiti to Dubai Investment Park?

The trip crosses the maximum three fare zones (Equiti is Zone 2, DIP is Zone 1, with Zone 3 in between). On a Silver Nol card it is AED 7.50, on a Gold Nol card AED 15, on a Blue personal card AED 7.50, and on a single-use Red ticket AED 8.50 plus AED 2 to buy the ticket itself.

How long does the trip take?

About 30 minutes from platform to platform, including the short waits between stations. The walk from the DIP station into the residential clusters or onto a feeder bus adds another five to ten minutes.

What happens at National Paints on the way?

The Red Line forks at National Paints (R38) into two branches. Through Expo 2020 trains continue straight onto the Route 2020 branch and pass through Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Golf Estates and Dubai Investment Park. Life Pharmacy shuttle trains terminate at National Paints and do not continue this way.

Can I do this trip with luggage?

Yes. Equiti has lifts to and from the platform, the Red Line trains have wide doors, and Dubai Investment Park is fully step-free with lifts to the elevated platforms. The whole trip is comfortable with bags.

Is it cheaper to take a taxi?

No, much cheaper on the Metro. A taxi from Equiti to DIP is around AED 51 to 75 and 22 to 32 minutes depending on traffic, against AED 7.50 on the Metro. The taxi is door to door, but the Metro saves about 85 per cent of the fare and matches the taxi on time.

When is the route busiest?

Weekday morning and evening peaks fill the eastbound trunk platform, but the Route 2020 branch south of National Paints is rarely full outside Expo City event days. Off-peak weekdays are the most comfortable, with room to sit and space for bags.

What time does the last train run from Equiti?

The last southbound train from Equiti towards Expo 2020 runs about 11:22 PM Sunday to Thursday and just past midnight on Friday and Saturday. After the Route 2020 branch closes, a taxi is the only way to DIP.
